... or rather our Cabin / Mountain Property needs a name. ???
It's not big enough to be a ranch, but then maybe the size doesn't matter? It's not a farm. I've referred to it as Camp Pinewood or Pinewood Camp as couple of times. :-\ It seems the word Pinewood should be in there, not just because of all the Ponderosa Pines that surround us, but because we live on a street with the word Pinewood in it, our businesses all have included the word Pinewood; Pinewood Preschool, Pinewood Playgrounds, Pinewood Enterprises.... Or maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree.
A jar of El Pinto green chili or salsa to the name we like the best.

We have the same issue here ;) The Eagle Rock Ranch sounded so great but it was then pointed out that it's not a ranch...or a farm.
We refer to our land as "The property" and sometimes "the cabin site" but liked "The Double M Eagle Rock Ranch" and a few others. (Double M becuase of our last names -- mine and my wife's kids)
Since you hear so much about 'McMansions' these days.... what about 'McCabin'? I've already decided to call my future build 'McCottage'.
Pinewood Acre(s) is the place for me.
Farm livin' is the life for me.

I see in the picture a bunch of dead pines in the background looks like the bark beetles got them. If you haven't yet you need to cut them down as soon as spring comes or they will be moving to other trees.
They can kill a lot of trees in a short time.

Those may be the ones scorched in the May fire. (first picture) The tops are good to maybe. We'll see how they are come spring. If any have to be culled they will be. We've got a woodpile you can't see in those pictures that is all covered in 6 mil plastic, right down to the ground. Covering like that will cook the beetles and prevent their spread. Maybe you already knew about that method.
Pine Comb Junction.
I'll let this run a while before the judges make their final decision. There are some definite possibilities there. :D

You know a good way to get your balls busted by the locals? Put a sign with the name of the property by the road. Always a city person classic ;)
How about the cabin ? I guess i'm simple like that lol. Sometimes if it takes to much work it doesn't stick anyway .
Looks like you may be up on a ridge-----how about Falcon Ridge or perhaps another bird common to the area----Pine Ridge or Pine Hill may work for you.
ps---really like the way you have cleaned up the area under the trees. That open park look is great. Maybe you could call it Park Place.
Jemez Haven?
Jemez Acres?

Well... he didn't like Fred (a perfectly nice name), so I figured he wanted something edgy and controversial, that people would really talk about.
He didn't care for Sword of Islam either, though.

Mountain Don's Pines? ;)
Pines of Villa Don del Karen. I took that off my favorite piece of classical music the Pines of Rome by Ottorino Respighi. The first movement is I pini di Villa Borghese" (Pines of the Villa Borghese). A very organized yet busy piece. Like hurried from start to dry-in - while things loom and threaten all the time. 8)
But then on the other hand a rose is a rose so most likely for you guys its - "Lets go to
THE CABIN." :)

I'm sorry, I don't like to use "cabin" when I can help it, since the connotation does derive from the days of slavery. Most of us are familiar with Abe Lincoln growing up in a "log cabin", studying by candle light. The connotation is that poor and deprived people lived in those structures and that even those people can make something of themselves. More so, since Lincoln was the one who freed the slaves, this associations ties in with the slaves as well.
You RACIST! ;D
Did anyone mention Pinewood Place?
Shady Pines
Maybe just plain and simple:
Pine Haven
Bruce
The Hermitage at Pinewood
"Whispering Pines" perhaps or if they are more verbose,
"Yammering Pines" or if you are hipper how about
"Rapping Pines"
or maybe just "Pinderosa"

This is genuis. On the show "Golden Girls" Dorothy kept threatening to send her mom back to Shady Pines. A running gag that you can take advantage of!
I like Shady Pines!
Our family camp on a lake is called Tranquility Cottage. ;D
How come so many of these names sound like good names for a cemetary?
The standard developer model of naming a project is to call it what you had to destroy in order to put it in.
ie: Whispering Pines, Shady Brook, etc.

We had the same problem and were stuck on the Pine something something because our property is covered in them. We're still thinking on it so it will be "the land" for a long time yet I think!
How about Piney Wood Home (there's an old folk song by that title) or Pinewood Home.
A last comment before the final judging.
"Simple is better than complex"
I learned that from a computer language teacher many years (and languages) ago.
I have to agree Don that is why I just keep "Dogtrot" or "Dogtrot at Hightop". It is sort of the style but I doubt the founding fathers will object.
Lets just call it Mt. Don.
Scott I don't recall seeing a name for your either.

I am used to seeing it with the rest of the title that I didn't pick the name out. Sort of like " Can't see the forrest for the trees"
Deer Run- 16x26 in Oklahoma
OK Don, I get it; KISS.
Pinewood
Poppy's got my vote.
KISS is a great name.
......meanwhile, outside Pinewood Don's Precariously Perched Perpetual Pagoda of Precisely Positioned Pieces of Parallel Petrified Ponderosa Pine Planking, the entire CountryPlans forum nervously whistles the theme from 'Jeopardy' while awaiting the final judging.
Sorry for the delay in posting the winner. My thoughts were diverted by a personal issue.
We have a winner! A Two simple word winner.
Stinkerbell had an early favorite in Pinewood Acres (is the place to be...) but sadly it did not make the final cut.
Harry51, Whitlock, sgleaton and rwanders all had one of the words that rang our chimes.
However, rwanders was the only entry to coin the perfect pair; Pine Ridge.
So, RW go have a look at the selection of El Pinto 16 ounce Salsas and green chilis HERE (http://www.elpinto.com/16oz-products), choose one of the Thomas brothers tasty products and PM or email the delivery address. Make that a FedEx deliverable address, no PO Box please.
A note: I love the El Pinto salsa and their green chili sauce; the green chili sauce is not a puree like some, they contain recognizable diced tomato, green chili and onions. I've never tried the red chili sauce, (I think it is less chunky, more sauce like); I'm a green chili guy. I find the El Pinto products to be a little "warmer" than many other brands. El Pinto medium is a little bit hot for me, but very good all the same.
*grumble, grumble*
;D
