Anybody got any experience or recommendations for any of these.
I've seen prices of $399 for Fein all the way down to $93 for Dremel (Amazon)
thanks
the Fein tool is excellent
expensive, but excellent
according to the tool gurus at Berland House of tools

nothing even comes close and they sell the others too
I've got the Harbor Freight version and it seems to work. It's a great way to trim of shims around doors/windows, but I've not used it for a whole lot (but haven't started on electrical/plumbing/tiling/trim yet). My theory is that, if this turns into something I use a lot, I'll get a better-made version then - for now it's worth the price just for the occasional short plunge cut in wood.
According to this article (http://www.toolsandmachinery.com/articles/finding-a-multi-tool-to-multiply-your-productivity-13/) there are cheap versions of the Fein now (I'd only seen the informercial version before, which is the really expensive one).
Fine Homebuilding has a review of the Dremel, Fein, Rockwell, Bosch (cordless) and Craftsman (cordless) tools. The Rockwell gets the best value award, the Fein is best overall. The cordless ones only last 5-10 mins, so are only useful for quick jobs.
I've used Dremel and Black & Decker 120v ac corded rotary tools. I've found Black & Decker to be the much more robust of the two.
I have the Dremel variable speed and us it for sharpening my chainsaw, cutting with diamond blades and bits etc.. Works great on the saws with the angle guide.
I have an old Dremel variable speed. It does what I ask of it, but I don't ask it very often.
