I solved the broken "f" key problem. I have a new keyboard attached to a new laptop. :)
I bought a Dell Studio 15 from bestBuy today. Loaded with Win7, I have some exploring and learning to do, software loading and all that stuff.
:)
I was cheap and changed the keyboard on my laptop, but may move up one of these days - if it looks like I have income to pay for it...
My plan is to leave the old one in the cabin for occasional use. Mainly as a camera download tool, graphics editor and maybe data logger for the PV system.
OK, one wonders what word you were typing to break the "F" key?
The "E" is on its last legs too.
Its had five years of hard use. No other problems except those two keys. Well, a bunch of keys no longer have the letters on them. Good thing it doesn't bother me or I'd of had to ditch it or replace the keyboard long ago. To me , it's not worth the cost and bother of swapping in a new keyboard.
I still can't get over how bright and sharp the screen on the new Dell Studio is. :)
I'm still hacking away on my 11 yr old keyboard :) Amazing how the old tactile keyboards last!
