Post by: Billisnice on November 10, 2009, 08:54:12 AM
I want to put three small window about where the head of the bed is located. What is a decent size window in these small rooms?

A window should be big enough to allow emergency egress. IRC states that to be 5.7 sq ft of free area unless it's a grade floor level where it can be 5.0. Also minimum free opening height of 24 inches and minimum free opening width of 20 inches. That's required for every sleeping room.

All that aside we like big windows for the natural light they supply during the day.

The bedroom has 2 3'x5 windows on one wall of the bedroom. This is for decorative purposes on the headboard side of the bed. So, the headboard will not cover up a big window. Maybe three small windows to fit inbetween the studs high about the headboard.
