Post by: Billisnice on November 09, 2009, 08:51:16 AM
What is an easy to apply stain and sealer for 2x6 t & g and trim? Is there a one coat waterbase stain?

Thanks

I like the old standard Danish Oil (http://www.ehow.com/how_4448639_finish-wood-danish-oil.html)that comes in natural & various stain tints. Pops out the grain and soaks in to provide both protection and a wear surface. Doesn't leave a hard finish so is easy to redo and touch up.

I only used one coat of Minwax polyurethane on my T&G and no sanding----looks good. You can buy it as a clear finish or mixed with stain.

I love the look of the Minwax clear Poly-Crylic (sp ?) that rw mentioned. Crystal clear so you see the natural color od the wood.

Is this T&G already installed or waiting to be installed after staining?
