Fresno Officer Helps Save Resident From Burning Home

A Fresno Police Officer is being hailed a hero, after his intuition helped save a man's life.
The officer was on patrol, in the area of Augusta and Menlo around 11:30 p.m. Thursday night, when he smelled smoke.
At first he thought it was from a chimney, but he later returned, thinking the smell was too strong.
It turns out smoke was coming out of a home.
The officer knocked loudly on the door, but got no response. However, neighbors told him someone was inside the home.
After learning that, the officer returned to the home were he saw the homeowner escaping through a window.
Firefighters were on scene within five minutes.
Damage is estimated at $85,000.
The homeowner was treated for smoke inhalation.
