I thought I posted this topic the other day but couldn't find it so thought I'd try again.
In our barn bath room we're installing one of the acrylic units so I still need to finish the ceiling and the walls up to the ceiling. I want to avoid the extra trouble of tile on cement board so wondering if I can use mold resistent sheet rock and paint with good quality primer or paint. Other suggestions to finish it off?
The rest of the bath room is OSB primed and painted. Will also have exhaust fan with light close to shower area but not in shower space (above shower)

Sure, that'll work fine. Hold it up off the ledge about 1/8" and use a bath caulk so its edge isn't sitting down in a potentially wet spot. You can pad the framing to the flange lip thickness if you want to go all out ;).
RP I did have a chance to check at Lowes for you. The trim piece I was referring to is a J Mold which comes in a 10' section and is meant to be used for 1/2" thick drywall. You basicly slip it over the end of the drywall that is against the shower stall. The price yesterday was $1.17 per section. The item # was 15437. I had posted a reply to your original post but I guess it got lost.

RP that is exactly what I did with the exception of the ceiling. Greenboard around the top between the fiberglass stall and the ceiling. Just do not run the sheetrock all the way down to the fiberglass. Leave 1/8" -1/4" gap between and followup with a paintable caulk. If you run it all the way the water will wick up into the drywall. They also made a transition strip for this. I think Don_P might have suggested it to me. I will go back through my thread and if I can find it I will repost.

RP What Don_P was describing was a Zip Bead but it may have been for another application around the beams that the discussion was about. I am sure they make a vinyle trim probably like a U shaped to fit over the bottom edge to protect the drywall end. I am planning on going to Lowes today and if I can think of it I will check to see what they have and whether it will work for you. I have talked to so many people both on/off CP I sometimes get confused on where I got the info.
I'll go look for the J mold this evening as this seems like a good solution. I'll leave a gap and seal with bath caulk.
