Amazon.com has a free shipping "club" they call Amazon prime. For about $80 a year you get an unlimited quantity of free shipping (2 day) on any order from Amazon themselves. That is, it does not apply to the companies that have stores on Amazon. We have used it or years. It's possible to give family members or friends access to the same free shipping using your Prime Membership. For our family it has saved a bundle in shipping costs.
There is a free one month trial offer available.

Update on Amazon Prime:
Are you an Amazon Prime customer, spending $79 a year for free expedited shipping on every order? Well, if so, you're now getting a lot more than shipping; Amazon's also giving you over 5,000 movies and TV shows to stream for no additional cost.
The service is much like Netflix, with a similar selection. It works in-browser as well as via the Roku set-top box. There's no word of the service coming to gaming consoles and other set-top boxes as Netflix has, but it may well happen in the future.
What do you think? $79 a year is cheaper than Netflix, and it also comes with free 2-day Amazon shipping. But without it being easy to stream to your TV, I'm not sure how many people will jump ship.
(according to DVice website)
[cool] Thanks for the update.
Considerations, we've watched several documentaries, travel shows & a couple movies using Amazon's new movie option. We don't have TV but use our projector & put up a sheet & run it through the computer w/surround sound speakers & it's just like going to the movies ;D Even popped some popcorn! Nice when you have these long, cold, stormy evenings...
Been using Amazon Prime for years....Love it. Plus being in the state of texas anything I purchase from Amazon is alos tax free. So Free shipping and NO TAX.
Same here - no tax if it is shipped from out of the Peoples Republic of California, and I have saved enough in shipping to pay for Prime. The movies are a bonus. I read that they were not as high definition as some services but they are fine for us and definition is decent.
Yep, me too. It's paid for itself three times over this year. I just ordered some HDSC Cards and tripod mounts tonight. Bought a new shotgun mic day before yesterday and a third GoPro two days before that.
No Tax, no fighting crowds,Etc. [cool]
I ordered a hotshoe converter today and noticed something today. The next day part that goes with Prime, costs $3.99. Since it's Friday I decided not to use it even though I need it for the weekend. Next day, Saturday delivery used to be a fortune.
At the last minute I decided to see what it would cost to get it tomorrow......it cost $3.99 [cool]
"hotshoe converter"
??? The literal translation makes me smile, so it has to be some kind of lingo. I looked it up and still don't really get it. Got a minute to translate for the curious dummy?
Mainly used to provide a PC socket to permit connecting a flash to the camera with a cord if there is no socket built into the camera body. Or if the body socket is busy with being connected to another device.
Just started my second year of Prime, I like it a lot. Much of what I order comes from the Cofeyville,KS warehouse so I get next day delivery here in OK. I am an avid reader, mostly fiction, and I can usually find a used hardback copy for half the price of paperback when buying from "fulfilled by Amazon" sellers. I do feel regret for the mom and pop bookstores, who now are more gift shops than book shops, but if I am going to have to special order, I like the speed of amazon. Oh yeah, twice so far I have gotten autographed, first editions for under $5 each, in both cases the seller didn't check.
