The abbreviation AP is at the end of the article, where the author's name usually is. There is no other author listed. AP for Associated Press is usually at the beginning and the author's name is included. The last link lists the news source as East African Standard.

Seems since it is an archived copy from 2004 it must be legit no matter what the source.

My understanding is that the AP article was quoted and credit was given to AP as per the AP at the end of the article by the African paper.
The Kenyans added the additional information of his Kenyan Birth because they were so proud that one of their own native sons made it to the office of president of the US.
