Title: Pine Floor above Bedroom
Post by: Billisnice on July 07, 2009, 11:56:33 PM
4x10 Doug Fir floor joists, spaced 4' o.c. with 2x6 t&g pine decking on top. Is this acceptable for pine? What type of clean coat can i use for the floor and underneath? Maybe a two coat system, one that apply the first coat then sand and apply the finish coat?

Minwax polyurethane (not the water-based variety) works well if you want a clear non-yellowing finish. If you want to stain----be sure and apply stain preconditioner first to avoid splotchiness when using pine.

Will two coat work well? One on and sand, then another?

thanks

Yes-----two coats should do well, but check the manufacturer's recommendations
