The Hubs is in Austin and started his first day of work. I am setting here back in the Seattle area waiting for someone to buy my home. We have lowered it so low that we have to bring money to the table if someone buys it. sigh.
I have had this house on the market since November, I feel like its a big old anchor around our neck.
complain moan complain moan complain moan
Sorry about that, Stinky. :(
Not so long ago I remember you wanted to buy a house in the flood plain. An anchor could have come in handy there. [waiting]
At least you are in one of the most beautiful cities in the US
go get some Ivar's clam chowder
it will ease the wait ;)
....love Seattle
austin -- go to see Ester's Follies on 6th street
Hugs, Stink... I know what it's like, but at least I was with DH during the waiting, even if we were waiting in a cruddy rental that wouldn't allow us to garden. Hope it sells this week!
It bad enough I had to sell my Kubota.....I miss Bella.
I think I found a cute home off in the outskirts of Leander I like. The hubs isn't so sure.
sigh
I wonder what he will sound like after his forst month down there. He is on day two. Him with his British accent. I wonder what a Bristish accent sounda like with a Texas drawl too it.
like this "Howdy Govna!"
I was telling Whitlock about you digging your trenches with Bella, Stink, as we were looking at his little Kubota. :)
I...I...I miss her! Wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
Must be raining in Seattle today....gloomy day, gloomy outlook....it sure is raining here....steadily for the last 24 hours.
Its hard for me to imagine wanting to live in TX, but I can certainly relate to being stuck in a house and wanting to move on.
I think the chowder should have a generous dollup of sherry in it...Ok - with it....Hang in.
Oh, I can certainly imagine wanting to live in TX. I would have gladly moved there if you'd caught me during a Wisconsin winter! Any bites or showings Stink? You did tell your realtor you want an open house every single weekend until it sells didn't you? And some brokers' opens?
It's been absolutely dead. We have lowered the price so when it does get sold I have to bring money to the table. I do not have second loan on this house it is a 80% loan. I beyond myself in disbelief. My agent said she has never seen anything like this. That she actually just really hates her job right now.
I'll keep my fingers et all crossed and hope/pray something decent comes along. :(
I decided at the end of the month I am leaving for Texas. House sold or not. Going to give the agent 2 months to sell it or we will rent it out. We will lose a little money every month, but it will be managable (I hope).
Nethog has encountered his first snake close encounter today. A Texas brown snake made its way near hotel.
Yeah, I'd probably do that too, Stinkerbell... it's tough trying to sell in this market & also having to live in 2 different places. I was born in Texas (Houston) but don't remember much - moved from there when I was 2 wks old... but have driven through many times on the numerous cross-country travels/moves with my parents.
We have felt from the begining this job/move is God's will for us. BUT..... I have been not all willing to let go, to be not in control. Everything but the house selling has been easy. Yet I am sitting here thinking I can help God by staying behind I can do this or that (obviously it's not working). I feel I am struggling with power/control. "Faith starts out before we know how its going to turn out" I gotta remember that and allow God in the drivers seat.
Yeah, it's easier when we let go & let our Creator take control... but that's the hardest step to take. I'll be praying for you, Stink...
I was in Austin last weekend, hot hot hot! You'll see for yourself soon enough. ;)
I hear snakes are real heavy this year, with more snake bites so far this year than all of last year. Something to do with the drought going on in Austin area right now and forcing them to look for food/water is driving them from their usual hiding spots. Dont wear flipflops in the woods for sure.
Moving across the country on faith is an amazing feeling, we did it when we moved back to Texas from Colorado Springs with a 2 year old in tow. Worked out ok for us, letting god into your life and trusting in him will provide you enormous blessings. -Doesn't hurt to have a plan as well tho, the plans themselves never seem to work out right for me, but somehow everything else does.

Yep....I quit worrying a long time ago. Just let the current take you where you want to go. It almost always does. Spelling aside, I don't have a swalehi dictionary close, the phrase is Shauri mngoda (affairs of God or Gods Business)
Thanks everyone!
Now for those of you in Texas, I am offically requesting that the weather be nice and pleasant for my trip and arrival....Thanks in advance heh
Good Luck Stink. It does seem like renting the house is a really good idea.
Ok. Got some of the travel plans started.
Leaving on the 31st to Pendleton OR, KOA. Its only a 5 hour drive but between Oregon and Idaho is very steep mountain and very hot weather, so I want a 5am start making my climb! With the climb out of the way its off to Provo to my brothers for a few days. Then another KOA stop In Alberquerque. Then Austin!
I will be the one on the road driving a 350 diesel king cab with extended bed, towing a 30ft trailer. I will be the one with two small dogs and two kids. A teenager who knows everything and a preteen who is starting to show signs of selective hearing disorder. I will be the one rocking back in forth mumbling driving 2200 miles. Wave if you see me.
Stink, one good piece of advice that my agent gave me, and I think it holds true is to raise or lower the price frequently on the house. Each time you raise it or lower it, an email gets sent out to anyone who is looking in that price range or has been watching your house for the price to change, etc. She suggested just raising and lowering the price by as little as $100 every week to two weeks because it will get more online exposure for your house (it'll be sent out as New Price, if you raise the price and Lower Price if you lower it.) Don't wait for your realtor to suggest it. Instead, tell her you want it raised $100 next week or whatever. It will probably be easier to sell if you are completely moved out, too. I'm glad you're going to Austin.... it is good to be with your family. I'll be praying that your house sells so you're done with it and don't have to deal with the rental thing.
Stinkerbell, sounds like you are going over Dead Mans Pass from Pendelton. Made that trip a many of times.
Hey StinkerBell
I might be on one of those huge trains you might see between LaGrande, Oregon and Nampa, Idaho. Seems as if I am going or coming every other day. Idaho is starting to warm up after a very cool, wet spring then a about six weeks of nice now it starting to get too hot. You know how that area east of the Cascades and the Great Basin gets. Bet of luck on your drive will be prayn' for ya'
rlr
We did that trick HT.
Thanks for the well wishes. The house comes off the market this Sunday and it looks like I have a Renter. So all is good. We will try to resale in a year. Or play serious hard ball with my lender. Once I get into another home in TX I may just call up my lender and tell tehm work with me on a new loan and not this ARM (LOng story, we were refiancing this home to finish off the cabin. Instead of a builders loan we got talked into this ARM, 5 year one so we could then qualify for a second...got the ARM then they told us they were not doing seconds cause of the market...) I will tell them play nice to me or they can have the home and the renter...btw you will take a monthly loss with the renter. AND you can not forecloser on the renter, so what do you want to do?
Hey Stink...sounds like the house feels like a ball and chain. What about renting with the option to buy for tenant?
You're smart about the travel time of day the with the steep mountains and hot weather! You see many broken down cars along the way. (Drive with the heat on.... :)
Good Luck with the big changes in your life!
Just to catch ya'll up, Stink's in Utah, with two driving days ahead of her.
Thanks, Hog. We were wondering.
No I am not! I am in NM. On an unsecure KOA line.
Gear box on the truck is going out. It's under warranty, I believe I an get to Austin, just gotta baby the darn thing.
Darn Fords...... [waiting]
In Leander Texas.....Yee Haw!
Truck needs to havesome repairs. The gear Box needs some serious investigation, along with cruise control. :/
Dang it's HOT here.
welcome to Texas, August usually has triple digit temps for the majority of the month. good news is you missed much of the same in June and July d* -- drink water, more than "usual" for your body, you'll need it the first few weeks.
I am headed to muldoon in the morning for a 4 day stay, heat index at 105 now. oof
