heat index 108 today, been in the triple digits for 3 weeks.  it's ****ing hot here.  theres just no nice way to say it.  97+ for 6 weeks, humidity between 70 and 95%.  today was 101 in the shade,  oof.  no rain in sight, their water rationing in some areas.  gawd it's hot.

It was 106 yesterday when I drove the girls home from violin lessons in our truck with no AC.  It was about 104 here today, but felt hotter than yesterday, possibly because the humidity was higher.

Think I'm going to try making "mailbox cornbread" today.  Don't want to make the house any hotter than it is, so why not cook in the truck and the mailbox?

rofl   We usually see those temps around here - but I think it only got to 93 yest at the cabin - 75 inside with no air conditioning...  now, if I could get DH to open the doors when he gets up for work & let the cool morning air in, it would be even cooler  [waiting]   I've been asking him for about 6 wks to order those hanging screen doors that aren't in a frame - Sportsman's Guide has those for sale...  he's too busy getting all the bargain camouflage clothing & jeans to think about that...  he's become a real clothes horse  heh

I know exactly what you're talking about, Sassy.  Wish I had one of those for the back door on the sunroom.

High temp today is 104.3F which "felt like 113f"..... Pass....  I really don't like hot weather.  I will point out that our 2x6 constructed house has 2 10k btu window units in it and the house is a comfortable 75F.

It is comfortable in the house right now, but if I'm to get out and get the work done that needs to be done, I can't keep it too comfortable.  I turn it up above 80 during the day, but have gotten spoiled to having it a little cooler at night.   As long as we have fans, I'm OK.  Weird, we'd never really used airconditioning until about a year ago... now I'm pretty spoiled to it in hot weather.

OK -- Here's how it is.  I told Sassy I wanted some Camo clothes to intimidate the Sheriffs this fire season in case they came back and hassled me again.... [waiting]

Word spreads around here so likely it won't happen - like - they probably will not hassle me anymore or they will just bring the whole team at once.....

....but anyway - I was on the phone with Sportsman's Guide to get info on the sizing on the Camo - pants  - like - do you have that in round with short legs? hmm, yes.... hmm

...and I ordered 3 pairs - but the sales rep said if I bought one more they would give me $5 off on the 4th pair.  Anyhow, what could I do - of course I had to do it.... and camo long sleeve pocket  t-shirts- Dickies - 2 for a pretty  cheap price.... what else could I do but say give me two packs? [noidea'

Then blue jeans .... It has become cheaper to get a pair from SG on a sale than it is to try to get Sassy to patch them, so I got 3 packs of two for $15.49 or something each but I was under the total price to get my $10 off the order with a coupon so got another giving me 8 pair .  (SG cheap pants may have three legs and cover my breasts while tugging at my crotch, but they are very reasonable).

What else can I say? ... [waiting]

BTW - she started laughing when she first saw me in camo as she had never seen me in anything but blue jeans in since forever.

That didn't make a lot points with me. [waiting]

Do not mention this to Nethog...I told him Austin was a mild weather city.

Thanks for the site info, phalynx.

We call those temps in the valley  "Going to Hell" when we have to go there to work.

Here in the mountains they are tolerable. d*
