Today marks a sad anniversary of the Kelo case where the supreme court decided that it was ok for private property to be seized by another individual or corporation (usually the case, and from an individual) for their own benefit. I'm not a lawyer, but it sure seems to me that the decision flew in the face of what's written in the constitution as well as the spirit and intent of those who wrote it. Remember how eminent domain was supposed to be for public facilities with demonstrable benefit, with just compensation to the property owner, and with due process allowed for the property owner?

:) Fortunately, that decision can be corrected on the local and state level with small changes in laws regulating eminent domain---and has been in almost all jurisdictions unless the local citizens approve of granting their city or state bureaucrats that power----we get the government we are willing to accept.
