Title: Useful Simpson Bracket I Just Discovered
Post by: MountainDon on May 15, 2009, 10:48:08 AM
Picking up some items last night at Lowe's I discovered a Simpson bracket I never knew existed.

It's the BCS Post Cap. The BCS allows for the connection of 2-2x's to a 4x post (BCS2-2/4) or 3-2x's to a 6x post (BCS2-3/6) , without using spacers or fillers.

M.D. is the plywood needed for strength on johns plans or is it a filler?

While the plywood likely does add some stiffness, I do not think the calculations consider the plywood. I might be wrong on that.  ???

I am going to use those when I construct the cabin battery box and the porch.

That's the one I used in the above pic.  Works great.
