I'm not sure where this video originated but it is quite good, IMO.

I can agree with that - I have been telling people for years that we are a republic- not a democracy, but that is all we have been selling to the world for years Democracy, democracy, democracy. [noidea'
What gives... [waiting]
Democracy was so Clinton era. We've had an Oligarchy for several years already.

One of the things I like about that video is it presents a pretty clear explanation of the difference between a democracy and a republic. I believe the majority of the people in this country don't have a clue about the difference. Heck, tonight I caught a bit where an elected senator referred to the USA as being a democracy.
It is very frustrating. Even more frustrating is what has happened and is happening still with the erosion of what the Founders envisioned.
At 9 minutes and 15 seconds replace the word "Romans" with "Americans". :(
I don't know what is happening here, Don. I am in total agreement with you. :) d* d* d*
They have been selling and preaching democracy for years - because it benefits them - We have been selling democracy to Iraq - check out the speeches over the years --- all of our polys - selling democracy.
They do not want the limits a Republic (the one for which it stands), puts on them.
If we got back to the Republic our founding fathers gave us, we would not have the problems we have today.
I pledge allegiance to the flag, of the United States of America, and to the REPUBLIC...
If the Senate was still elected by the House instead of the public ... we would have one group of representation that was NOT beholden to lobbyist to get elected. We have institutionalized bribery.

But we really did (do?) have sleeper cells. So, if you are paranoid, and someone really is following you ... are you still paranoid?
As for made up fears ... I think Global Warming ... I mean Global Climate Change ... takes the cake.

A republic and democracy are not mutually exclusive, you know...
We are a republic which is governed by system of representative democracy (where the people are represented by elected officials), rather than direct democracy (where everyone votes on every law). This is in no way inconsistent with a republic.
A direct democracy would be totally unworkable.

Be nice to America...or we'll bring democracy to your country too.
"Tyranny of the elite"...pretty much sums it all up right there.
