Hey all just wondering if you can tell by this pic what the 2x measure of these second floor joists. I'm not familar with the standard size. I'm guessing they are 2X8. Thanks in advance

Just be a guess but by guaging it with the sheet good lying on top I would say 2X10. Also looks like a 2X6 plate and the demensions look like they are about 4 inches or so larger than that. If someone could super impose the demensions of the sheet good onto the joist it would tell for sure. I am not that computer savy though. I was wondering why the stand-alone joist that was mated to anything.
Thanks! Here is another pic of the First floor. I am assuming they used the same 2x10 here?

The blocks look to be 8" ( 7-5/8") so it looks pretty close to 9-1/4" (10").
Awesome thanks so much!
If you are using these pictures to judge what should be done, it's probably better to use a joist calculator for the spans and loads that will be encountered in your own design.

For basic calcs, the old rule of thumb is pretty decent...add the two dimensions of the lumber. 2x10=12', 2x8=10', 2x12=14'. This assumes 16" oc framing, and nothing too out of the ordinary.
