As I get older I find I have less and less interest in certain types of movies - especially those with lots of violence or a frightening or demeaning message. There is enough of the that in the daily news!
Last night I watched a finely drawn human drama - a Chinese film (w/ English subtitles) called "The King of Masks (http://www.netflix.com/Movie/The_King_of_Masks/672607?trkid=222336&lnkctr=srchrd-sr&strkid=46924492_0_0)"
Here is the message that is stated near the end of the film. It's what I woke up this morning thinking about:
• The world can be a cold place.
• Occasionally we get the chance to warm it up.
• Being able to do this is one of the great joys of life.
PS - the link goes to Netflix but I found it at my local library.
Haven't seen that one John, but if I may piggy back on here, I just watched West Bank Story today. Musical, about 25 minutes long. Laughed my breeches off! You can watch it at veoh.com
I haven't seen it but we had an excellent Chinese subtitled movie at our theater here in town -- amazing how good a subtitled movie can be.
Amazon has it for sale too. Couldn't get to it through John's book link though.
