Title: Outdoor Light - GFI
Post by: bayview on March 11, 2009, 06:46:09 AM

I am in the process of wiring the cabin . . . I know that kitchen, bath and outside outlets need GFIs.  I am wiring for an outside light, on the exterior wall, by the front door.  Do I need a GFI for an outside light?

Only 15 and 20 amp receptacles are required to have GFCI protection.   NEC only mentions receptacles and does not mention lights, other than to say the light switch for an exterior light must be located indoors.
