Hi everyone!
I wanted to stop by and introduce myself as I have been reading all of your posts for a couple of weeks. I feel as if I have gotten to know a couple of you from reading so much!
This forum is amazing and I hope to follow in your footsteps within a couple of years. Thanks to all of your valuable information I am going to build my first building here sortly. I live in a log home currently but it is my brothers dream home that we bought ( at a much too high price, I might add!) He is disabled and i currently take care of him but my dream is to build my own much smaller cabin on my own property. Here in Washington real estate is WAY overpriced but I have begun the daunting task of finding a small piece of land. On the bright side since the economy is tanking land is coming down in price a bit and more of it is showing up for sale.
Well again I just wanted to introduce myself before I start driving you all crazy later with questions but I intend to read every post before hand if possible, lol. :)

I am sure that you will get a valuable insight into details of home building that you will probably not find anywhere else. With some humor involved the members are sincere in their advice and insight.

Thank you for the welcome Redoverfarm! Yes after reading a lot of the posts I can tell there is a lot of humor here but also lots of very sound advice. You guys actually make it seem so easy although I am aware that a lot of hard work is involved! Thank goodness i have a lot of brothers and family to help with the labor when the time comes-- he he!
w* annamay There is a great abundance of great help here.
w* to the forum, annamay. Looking forward to seeing your project take shape.
Thanks again for the welcome! I am getting pretty excited as after discussing things with my brother it looks like I may get to build sooner! Kitsap County where we live allows upto a 900sq ft additional dwelling unit to be placed on current property and since he has an acre and a half we are considering building on his property. This would of course save me the cost of the land which around here could be considerable. The major stipulation being that I make the outside look like his current log home to match it so that it looks like it all goes together. I guess this is not too bad I will just have to use log siding on the outside. I had been thinking of cedar plank siding with log accrent inside but I think I'll probably go for it!
woohoo!
