Title: simple floor question
Post by: firefox on January 18, 2009, 09:08:16 PM
I have just ripped off some rotted particle board and linoleum  tile from the original floor, which is in reasonavle shape except for a few sections.
My plan was to put some 3/4"  plytwood down on top of it which I happened to have scrounged a while back. Then put some kind of floor covering on that.

For some reason my brain says to put down 30# felt before putting down the plywood, but now I am not so sure that is a good idea,

Any suggestions? I want to do a reasonable job on this but I am not going
overboard at this time since I will probably be moving in a year or two.
But I am not interested in doing shoddy work either.

Considering the deafining response to my question, I will assume that it
is not necessary or disireable to put the felt down between the two layers of floring.

I thought it was a simple question ???

Oh shoot! I forgot that part of the question.  d* d*  NO don't do it. It could lead to squeaks believe it or not.

It was recommended between pine floor boards and sub floor but nailed every 5 inches x about 18" - doesn't sound good for sheet products though.

Sorry  I didn't reply sooner - working out from the shop and little forum time lately.
