Post by: okie-guy on January 15, 2009, 10:16:22 AM
I just got done installing my system out at my cabin. Since I owned carwashes the 2 articles that really explains the basics the following:

http://www.carwashcameras.com/Digitalarticle.doc

Also about the installation basics here:

http://www.carwashcameras.com/install-security-camera.pdf

The company I bought my equipment from is "Security Camers Direct" and their web site is www.scdlink.com
But I would call their toll free number and order a catalog at 1-800-316-6027.
They are helpful and will help you design design a system. They are also helpful with their Tech service.
I think the key is don't chintz around when you buy your system. ALWAYS have a dedicated DVR that just records your cameras. The cheap ones that run along with your window program are not woth it.
Mine is a four camera system with a 250 GB CD/RW DVR. It will record at 30 frmes per second and record 10 days before it start recording over. I have 2 outside IR cameras and 2 inside camers. All are color ( the IR Cameras record B&W at night)
I have some pics and can answer questions

Very good info.  Thanks for posting it.

It takes a lot of the questions out of security system setups and installation. :)
