Albuquerque's Mayor Marty pursues almost every green thing that comes along; some work, some don't.
The latest, "Ooops that was a bad idea" has to do with E85 fueled vehicles. The city of Albuquerque bought a fleet on E85 capable cars for the police department. They have announced they will not be buying any more and are switching to using straight gasoline, which they can also run on. The news report was a bit short on details, but mentioned "problems and down time for repairs (warranty covered) that they did not have with gasoline only vehicles. They were also not pleased with the increased operating cost on E85 with higher fuel cost and poorer mileage. Well Doh!
There is a place for everything but emergency responders for the time being is not the place for these type vehicles. Maybe in the future. IMO
