Happy Holidays!!!!
Just curious if anyone here lives in an A-frame, either as a getaway or as a full time residence?
Any pros and cons to this structure?
How did the costs compare with more traditional structures?
Todd
We had some discussion on this before. Lots of wasted space with the slanting walls.

Search A-frame on the blue bar above for more
IF I lived in, or had a cabin, someplace where snow was always measured in feet rather than bothering with trifling inches, then I might consider an A-frame. But otherwise it's not for me. The inside usable footprint gets shrunk down by the A-frame, as fas as I'm concerned. That and it's too much roof for me, too steep and too high.
The A frame design also has merits for the survivalists among us. The slanted walls lead to large amounts of storage for various supplies and equipment. I know one family that lives in an A frame and the owners ability to make custom built ins made the most of the space. It would not be my first choice but I wouldn't count it out either.
