I went hunting today...and it was a big day. Lots of stuff happening, Dog hunters that kept their distance and dogs that didn't and a months worth of trail cam pictures and a bear and smal buck I didn't shoot because I ....didn't want to.
But all that for other posts. I'm beat.
The new camera is great. I gave the 75-200 zoom a workout in all modes and the 18-50 stabilized zoom a good working over.
I'm a long way from a professional but here are a couple general pictures.

Nice detail Peter. I guess I missed what type it is... hmm
It's an Canon FX Glenn.
The 18-50 lens came with the camera and I bought a 75-300 and a 50-80 zoom lens a couple days later, both Canon lenses.
I also Bought the Canon 430 EX II strobe. It does everything but make coffee.

There's a serious learning curve with both the camera and flash. I'm at the bottom of the curve right now.
I'm also looking hard at the f 1.8 macro lens.
There doesn't seem to be an end to it d*
I was finding all kinds of odd things today
I found a couple of these together. I picked one up and it seems to be pure ice around a woody stem like a leaf stem. It just fell apart and dissolved when I touched it.
If it wasn't pure ice, I have no idea what happened to whatever was under the ice.

Cool -- sounds like a nice Camera. Photography is one of my favorite sideline hobbies.
Nice pix - looks like you are having lots of fun!
Nice shots Peter. I have a good Cannon 35mm that takes nice shots with the telefoto lense but it is of the old age and not digital. The wife says to go ahead and take the shots and when they develope they will make a CD that I can transfer to the computer. Like the ones I took today of the deer it would have been perfect. But instead I thought I would try the small digital through one side of the binoculars. Worked in a pinch though. I have been thinking real serious about upgrading to a better camera but really have better use for my money now at the end of the year with tax time, Xmas, and the cabin.
By the way I was in your old stomping grounds Saturday. Went to Staunton and PU a 12KW propane generator for about 1/3 of what they sell for from a private individual that I found on Craigs. Been setting for last couple of years never used.
See what I mean ;D
