Title: Water in and waste out under footings??
Post by: 2zwudz on October 13, 2008, 09:16:17 PM
Ok ,  I have my footings dug and formed up and now I have questions about the water line coming in to the crawl space and the waste line going out.  I have trenches dug under the footing forms for each.  My question is do I put pee gravel in the trench and then the lines and more pee gravel and tamp it to pour the footing on top of it.  What have you guys found to work best??

Thanks again and sorry for all of the questions.
Mark

That should work or put oversize sleeves through and run the lines later.

2zwudz I used as Glenn stated an oversize PVC Sch 40 to run my supply through and then used the Sch 40 for the waste.

You can always grout it in if there is any excess hole later.  Boxes could be made of wood, cardboard filled with sand -etc but round gives less chance of a stress induced crack into the footing, not like it will hurt if it has at least a couple continuous rebars in the footing as required in our county.

I'm curious, if you don't have plumbing stubbed in, how do you know the correct depth of the lines? In my case I was close enough
to the footing with my septic that drop wasn't a factor. But, not knowing your situation, it could be a problem.

If the footing cracks chances are it will be where a drain line passes under or a area where fill had been added. Don't ask me how I know that. d*

Dang, John.  I didn't mean you.  You didn't have to confess. [crz]

Good thought, BoB.  I try to figure that stuff all out as I am making it to be sure I don't have to say      [booboo]

I did it for Mikes bigger house project when I set the septic tank - buried it 3 feet under the surface to the top requiring about a 9 foot deep hole and manhole extensions.
