Hi All,
I am trying to fix this house up enough so I can sell it and build my own up in Eureka Nevada.
Th previous roofer cheated and just cut off the ends of the rafter tails with the obvious consequences.
I want to splice on the correct length to the tails so that they can actually support the composite tar which is now drooping down between
the shortened ends of the rafters and the lateral 2 x 6 that holds the
edge of the tar.
I need to push this mess up to get under it so I can put the extensions in place. I am afraid that if I just push it up I will end up cracking it.
I am thinking I need a blow torch of some kind to heat it up first.
I have a rose bud atachement for my welding gear, but I don't know if that will work or not in this situation.
Any recomendations? I would contract it out but I got hit below the belt by the market.
Thanks,
Bruce
Fire hose handy and a propane weed burner. Get the ones that work with a 5 gallon or so refillable propane tank.
Harbor Freight has some that are not the greatest in the world but will work.

and an Amazon search.

Thanks Glenn!

(Actually it was a Hot tip....)
My pleasure, Bruce. BTW... I also use it to light my barbecue. I barbecue with oak. It sounds like a jet engine taking off. Takes about 10 seconds to light the barbecue.
We call it the ceremonial lighting of the barbecue and guests must stand at attention with their fork in their right hand placed over their heart. [bbq]
All hail the barbecue. [crz]
Watch out Glenn!
you will have the Firemen out there again ;D
We could all have a big [bbq] then and they could cover for me. :)
