Title: cheap insulation strategies
Post by: MikeT on September 23, 2008, 05:42:41 PM
Greetings,

Now that summer is in the rear view mirror, I am looking ahead to needing to insulate my ceiling and walls.  I would rather not buy new insulation if I can help it.

What are some strategies you can think of that will allow me to insulate to appropriate R levels for 2x6 walls and 2x12 rafters on the Oregon coast?

I am trying to find people who might be deconstructing homes, but in this economy these are increasingly rare.

I am searching Craigslist.

Other ideas?

Thanks,
mt

I've never thought of trying to use recycled insulation.   ???

It would be rather bulky to transport. Some of the rolled fiberglass I'm using seems to expand by a factor of about 6 when the packaging is split.
