I am laying out plywood subfloor and I am wondering if it is ok to use the hollow part of the tounge and groove in 1" plywood along the edge of the floor frame? 20 4' sheets across to make 20' wide x 32'
That's what I would do.
I assume you mean 20 sheets total 5 across x 4 long.
I have seen some cut the first -second row sheet in half to stagger the joint spacing so not all ends land on the same floor joist, putting the second part of the sheet at the far end.
Thanks Glenn. Yes 5 across x 4 long. Just wanted to be sure that hollow space was ok when the walls are raised on top of it later. I figured it was but I was headin' up the hill this morning and just wanted to be sure before I attached everything.
There will still be plenty of solid support to the framing. If you are around a bit check back for other replies but I know it is common to do it this way.
Yes, the T&G groove in the subfloor under the wall framing will not degrade the strength of the wall.
