Surprise in the mail. We filed a tax return for my MIL who passed away in January. Because of that, we on behalf of the estate, received a $600 Stimulus check. :o ::)
That's good! I was impressed today by how much they've helped the economy d*
I wouldn't mind being stimulated. [crz]
Well, if ya file your tax return and if all the number limits are not exceeded the government will stimulate you by USPS mail with a honest to goodness paper check or an electronic deposit. :) We got our jollies from 'em. I guess I could say our stimulus went into the shitter [toilet] ... the Sun-Mar. ;D
That is really quite a throne-- I'll bet it is very stimulating, or at least enough that you won't want to fall asleep on it and fall off. [crz]
One quite naturally assumes quite a Regal pose when seated atop the Sun-Mar. :) I've asked K to find a crown that we can hang on a nail by the throne.
They were giving them away free at Burger King. rofl
My check came in the form of a credit against what I owed from last year. I paid the bill and got a refund of $7.17 after the fact. I couldn't even fill a gas can.
That totally helped the economy.
I don't get a check but I already have a Sun-Mar ;D
One step ahead of the crowd, Peter.
I wish I had a Sun Mar, the shovel is not doing it for me. Maybe next year I'll get stimulated again and this will be a possibility. Seriously, the shovel sucks.

Make sure to get the one pint flush toilet, it's great! [cool]
I won't be getting a stimulus check. Mtn Don mentioned something about numbers, etc.
Looks to me like I'm not eligable because I had a fairly good income year.
I could care less about 'their' bullcrap give away programs anyway.
I'm not dead yet!
And you weren't dead, sparks. ;D And I hope you stay that way.
They have to take twice as much from you as they give back to you so you should be happy, Sparks. :)
Oh, yeah. I'm so happy I could just wiggle and pee all over myself like a little puppy dog!
That will come as you get older. [crz]
All toilet subjects aside,
My tax liabilities were over 20k last year. Double anything that ever happened before. And there might be a few here that wished that they only had to pay such a sum.
But that opened my eyes a bit to say the least. There are way, way too many people riding on the coat tails of the rest of us ........lost for words right now. I.E.......I am p(angry)issed. >:(

I'm not that far behind in years.....two or three? Been there, done that, a bit wiser now. ;)
57 here - I am currently older and wiser than Sassy --- she'll catch up on the 14th. ::)
Will be 54 shortly Glenn. Class of 72.
Working out of town until next Wednesday.
The wife keeps on talking about a stimulus check. Go figure. HeHeHe
We were both class of 69.
I have to see their check for what it is - money that was illegally taken from the taxpayers already -- according to the internal revenue code. Ask Ed Brown. :)

Ah yes, 1969.....One small step for man.......
How times have changed in the last thirty years. I wonder if Neil Armstrong got a stimulus check?
Ed Brown probably got a differant kind of stimulus. [yuk]
Oops.....nearly forty years!!
Funny -- when Neal was asked he didn't want to talk about it.
Oh -- we're talking about the check - not whether he actually set foot on the moon --- or a movie set. rofl.
My apologies for any reference to the class of '69.
Or the events that occured that year. :(
So much for stimulus.
No problem, Sparks -- It was a great year -- I was there.
It doesn't matter what somebody says it seems --- I seem to be able to take it and twist it all out of proportion. d* rofl.
This part of the moon landing always confused me though. hmm

[rofl2]
sparks I am like you. Class of 72 was a good year for me as well. Now if I can just figure out what I had done in the last 36 years.

I'm stumped on that too, Red! ???

You can let her catch up but if she passes you you gots a problem.
rofl
I told her last night she need to learn more about maintaining the batteries and solar power so she'd know what to do after I'm dead. [rofl2]
Now we have a argument going about who gets to die first. d*
When I was a Marine I was told to never volunteer for anything. Now you know why. d*
Glenn I guess a belated Happy Birthday is due to Sassy. My DW is the 15th. OH my gosh that's today. No I didn't forget.
Don't worry about Sassy when you are gone. I am sure she will find a good place to spend your insurance. Maybe even hire someone to look after things. ;D
Just got a letter from the feds today. I'm getting the 1200 dollar check!?!
Well, that will cover the cost of the new homeland security devices.....and a bit more.

I hope she does well. ::)
I am a little slow on the uptake Sparks. I just saw your message. I have been having trouble getting here lately. My link keeps taking me to the old forum and last night wouldn't take me anywhere at all. The page cannot be displayed message showed up. I guess I need to use another doorway in. I link to the index page. I was hearing someone yesterday in the media saying another stimulus is actually a tax increase. The Democrats like to make things sound good but when it comes down to it it's BS. Obama is going to fix everything in 4 years. I don't want to see that guy in office. I can't afford him. He hasn't a clue.
desdawg, when you get on the proper main forum page and are logged in, copy the address at the top of your browser and save it as your new link then try it to be sure, then delete the old one. That will bring you in, logged in at the start.
That is what I was doing Glenn but somehow it changed without me doing anything to it. I am trying it again.
One of the mysteries of the modern computer. Little computer gremlins. :o
It worked right this AM. Might have had something to do with Bernanke's testimony. Nope, those are stock market gremlins. Different kind.
Most of what you saw was short covering Des.
There's a plan being tried that I'm starting to see. Nothing really underhanded or illegal but it seems to be working. The problem is it doesn't cure the problem, just prolongs the Big Bang.
Load up on popcorn and watch. :)
It's pretty interesting to watch Peter. Oil dropped and Wells Fargo posted earnings. Now the financials are getting a shot in the arm from Wall Street. No big disasters reported. Oil stocks are off. Makes me wonder what is going to happen next. It has raised my awareness. I never watched this stuff before. I knew the market was illogical but to some people it makes perfect sense. Thus it must be Gremlins. Makes as much sense to me as my link here working intermittently. No wonder I have always been the odd man out. I am quickly getting back to the old buy and hold theory. I think Kenny Rogers said it best. Know when to hold em, know when to fold em, know when to walk away and know when to run. It is hard to know these things short term.

Long is good now IMHO Des. This is an opportunity that few generations see.
If our economy survives and I still have some doubts, many of the stocks that have been falling stars, will survive and go higher than ever. The onlt question is, which ones?
It will take a few years though.
The next question is, when is enough...enough.
There are very few nice things about knowing your time is limited....but one is that you can say, I don't need to play this game anymore. My wife has enough money to live comfortably the rest of her life.
I don't need much to be happy. Just my trees and bears. I keep asking myself why I worry about this mess. The bad thing about smelling the roses is that they smell like a funeral parlor >:(
I have to say it has been an education. To think that our economy is based on the movements of a whole batch of people who's herd instinct kicks in based on rumor and inuendo. And these are the people that control large amounts of the money in this country and other countries. Spooky. I'm thinking long is good. I have never gone short. But I don't patronize the casino's either. I have a low tolerance for risk.
