Title: Service lines and post and pier foundations question
Post by: Madroaster on July 11, 2008, 07:02:31 PM
Hi All,

Quick question about running water and sewage on a post and pier foundation: In a northern climate (Canada), is it simply a matter of some good insulation, or is there more to it?  Now that I'm home and getting closer to building, I'm beginning to doubt the convenience of P&P; maybe a more substantial foundation is in order.  Thoughts?

Thanks,
--Derek

I'm planning to build chases for any lines I can't conceal in the floor it self. Depending on how you layout your pipes this can be minimal. Another option would be to skirt your foundation but in Canada I'd think you'd need some heat in the crawl space. A third option would be insualtion and heat trace cable.
