Title: Replacement fasteners for lag screws and bolts.
Post by: John Raabe on July 09, 2008, 06:46:40 PM
Holding up ledger boards, especially on decks and porches can be tricky and critical to safety. I added a download detail on the PlanHelp site (http://www.planhelp.com/public/programs/downloadsearch.cfm?searchtype=simple&searchmode=cat&keywords=recent&sortby=name&cat=Plan%20Details). (See Deck to House details.)

This job can be made easier with new fasteners with very interesting specs. The "LedgerLok" is a no pre-drill screw fastener that is stronger than a 1/2" lag screw. Each one supports 272 lbs in Yellow pine vs 230 lbs for a 1/2" lag. They are triple corrosion coated to stand up to the new ACQ pressure treated lumber and can be installed with any drill, cordless or corded.

The site has other specialty fasteners for other jobs.

When I called 800-518-3569 they sent the spec sheet and four sample screws to try out.

Those look like terrific screws. I'm going to have to call them Monday.  :)
