I've decided to pursue installing the floating slab for our little house. Anyone know of any good websites or books I should look into? I am not having much luck...I need like the "idiots guide to floating slab"...
There's a little bit of information here, because it's what the building here is built on. You do get to pay to download the plans, but they're not terribly expensive. Mind you, they are more of a description than a house plan.

(Mine's up on a couple courses of blocks, with drains under and outside of the building, so I don't know much more about the "Alaska foundation" or whatever it is he calls it)
Wow! I followed that link Amanda and then the link the guy has to his real estate page. The prices have gone up pretty high in AK since I left! Nothing near the prices here, but my dreams of retiring out there are beginning to dwindle....Wasilla was where my roomie in college lived, he took me home for Thankgiving and I loved it there.
