Title: Home Formulas and Remedies
Post by: glenn kangiser on May 20, 2008, 10:30:31 AM
Stuff that may or may not work for you but may have worked for someone else.

We have some tiny ants and I recall hearing about vinegar stopping them.  I'm going to give it a try.

50/50 with water.

Dry corn meal on ant hills works also.  Ants cannot digest corn meal but they take to the nest and in about a week they eat themselves to death.

I read somewhere the other day that ground ginger would keep ants off your veggies... I need to try it because the ones out back have quite a few ants on them.

On second thought, maybe I should use the cornmeal since it's off limits for actually EATING right now.

I use vinegar and baking soda for washing my hair pretty often. Makes it nice and shiny.

DD and I made a "potion" out of Numex Twilight hot peppers and garlic one time and sprayed it on our garden, and it kept pretty much everything out of there... even the neighbor's cats.  We didn't have any bug problems that year, either, but I have to give the chickens some of the credit for that.

Funny story about ants. My first wife noticed that her "peonias"(sp?) had ants all over them. You guessed she sprayed them.  Never had a bloom all summer. Wonder why  d*.  It is one of the few flowers that requirte ants to polinate them.  No I am not with her now but no the ants didn't cause it.  ???
