Cool but even with the restricted airspace, it seems we will see them wrapped around small planes and choppers.  I live next to an airport -- by choice and sometimes the fire chopper shortcuts over my ridge.

:o  Woohoo, that makes me dizzy if I watch it too long.  DH wants to do wind and solar to power pretty much everything.  I can't wait.

I like the helix design -- maybe have to look into making one.

I like it too... it looks pretty nifty.  Of course, I like plain old fashioned windmills, too.

I have a 53 footer I need to put up - I have thought of converting it to a power mill by putting magnets on the sucker rod and continuing to pump with electricity.  I should just do that.

What a great article Glenn, thanks for that.

I only skimmed it, but I didn't see any output power measurements.  It would be nice to know if something like that is capable of 30W?

Glenn's link is to a document in Adobe PDF format. Depending on your browser setup it should either open the PDF file in a new window or maybe ask where you want to save it. It IS a BIG file, 3.92 MB, so it may take a while to completely download and open.

You can also try right clicking on the link and then save link as....

I have adobe and use it all the time. Maybe I didn't give it long enough to load I'll try again.

Right click - save as will probably work better.  It worked fine on mine but a bit slow.

Thanks Guys,

I was just in to much of a hurry and hadn't waited long enough. I got it now. Thought this here thing was supposed to move at warp speed. ;D

That is a Savonius rotor plan that the other one is based on.  It would be an easier build.  The generator on the pdf along with the schooling on it is a great idea and good study.
