Country plumbing at it's best...

The lid of this septic tank got broken by a lawnmower driving over it. I noticed it wasn't draining so I dug up the outlet side. Guess what...no latteral lines at all. rofl Thats a scrap piece of OSB flooring I stole from my cabin project covering the hole for now.

Here's a shot of the new lid I cast today (no sneaker jokes please). It'll need to cure a few days before I can move it. In the mean time I'll be installing some lateral lines to this tank.
Rocks covered with tin make a cool leach field, Scott. Just like the new modules but old style. ;D
Sorry, Daddymem-- I was just kidding-- don't make me go back and study again. [crz]
Scott Is there no drain field at all? Is it all concrete or aggregate also. I think mine has a handle embedded to assist in the removal. Pretty heavy also as it is a good 3" thick. Knock on wood it has been about 8-10 years since I had pumped it out. Probably will be due before long. I am hard headed and installed a garbage disposal. Glutten for punishment. Job security in a away. ;D
There was about 3' of pipe sticking out of the side of the tank and that's it. No gravel no nothing. It's hard to see in the pic but I cast a couple of wire handles into the new lid.
It must be good soil. In the mountains here, it's not unusual to see direct pipes. Beats a bucket I suppose. ;D
