Title: Concrete Cost
Post by: kenjal on April 22, 2008, 01:41:31 PM
Just curious about what everybody is paying for concrete per yd in other parts of the country. I have $92 per yard for 5 yds or more plus a trip charge of $75. I'm about 45 miles from the plant.
I am going to build a barn/shop 36x36 and I wanted a concrete foundation vs pole barn type. And I really didn't want to do the concrete work myself. So I asked for bids. For both types of foundation, monolithic and standard footings-foundation walls, dirt work included with all materials and labor plus a 4" floor with 4" gravel base, the average cost was $15,000. I can only say I was shocked at these bid prices. I guess I'm out of touch with this part of the construction costs.
Are these prices on par with what you guys are seeing? High? Low?
I am in SE Idaho.
Thanks for your comments.

About $125 a yard here with no delivery charge on 4 yds or more.  In respect to your slab foundation.  A friend is building a 28 X 36 cabin with a full basement. 9 ft walls poured.  Without the digging the estimate on the walls, footer, slab in the basement was $14K.  Sounds a little steep for your work.  But if you can't DIY then there is only that option.

It looks like the cost of the concrete here is on par with the rest of you guys. sort of. Its the labor that's the killer. I didn't want to do it myself but.....that's the fun of it right? Thanks for your answers.

Redoverfarm-that's a great place you have and nice work!
