We are about to launch our construction project hopefully in the next two weeks! We are starting with a smaller cabin to use while we are building the main house. It will be 16'x24' with a 8'x15' sleeping loft. While it is a little extravagant for a guest/construction cabin we feel it will allow us the comforts to not rush the main house. The main house being a 20'x34' Universal cottage. After receiving our plans we decided that the constant 3+ hour weekend commute to work on the house would be too much so we are starting a bit smaller.
Here is our floor plan for the small cabin.

and here is a rendering of what we hope it to look like

Here is a pick that will be looking out the front door

And this is the view out the back

We are going to build on a pier foundation for this phase of the project while the main house will be built on a full basement. Well I hope the pics work :)
We'll all be looking forward to every step of the way. :)
Looks good, but for myself, I'd rather have the bathroom next to the bedroom :) Also, back-to-back plumbing is sometimes cheaper & easier if you can work it out - you can share some of the pipes, drains etc. But overall, looks like a good plan - I'm looking forward to seeing your progress also. Nice area!
Looks like a great spot and you've got a solid plan.

I agree but the wife wanted the bathroom near the door so as little as possible gets tracked into the cabin once we start the main house construction in a couple months. I may wear the pants in the family but she picks them out :)
That makes sense :) It's not like the house is huge & you have to walk a long way to the BR... ::) Yes, I pick Glenn's pants out too...
