Title: Tax Rebate........Warning some ranting..
Post by: StinkerBell on January 24, 2008, 04:40:54 PM
I am not sure what I think of this Tax rebate, but I know I found myself soo irritated that people who didn't even pay taxes will be getting a 300.00 refund.

re·fund1      /v. rɪˈfʌnd, ˈrifʌnd; n. ˈrifʌnd/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[v. ri-fuhnd, ree-fuhnd; n. ree-fuhnd] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–verb (used with object)
1.   to give back or restore (esp. money); repay.
2.   to make repayment to; reimburse.
–verb (used without object)
3.   to make repayment.
–noun
4.   an act or instance of refunding.
5.   an amount refunded.

So how can you REFUND someone who has not paid/contribute?
So basically my taxes are going to more charity/welfare.

They want give the money to people they know will spend it so they stimulate the economy. Besides it's not your money. They spent your money already. This will be brand new freshly printed money.

My position stands...It cannot be a refund if you never paid anything. It is welfare.

I just had a big ol piece of Chocolate Macaroon cake - way  too rich.

It's not welfare if dubya prints a bunch of money and just gives it to you, Stink.  It all free.  That's how he funds his wars -- free money  720 million dollars of free money each day for the war.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wnq6cD5jk1Q&eurl=http://www.afsc.org/cost/

You OK'd him doing that didn't you? hmm  I'm sure he wouldn't do it without permission and approval of the people. He's the number one public servant.  (OK -- don't get technical on me -- I know he was installed not elected and kept in by voting machine tampering -- but hey -- there wasn't a better choice either so no worries), but you get $300 back.

I thought the rest of us were getting $600.  What happened to you , Stink? hmm

Bad behavior?  [noidea'  Lump of coal in your stocking? hmm

$720.000.000.00 , you get $300.  Remember -- they had to take it from you before they can give it back.  Don't be grateful.  They are a totally parasitic entity.

It's not welfare.  It's a printing press, you silly. d*

AND

AND there is a cap for those who actually paid.

It is not right to have a cap and not give something back to those who paid. Yet give to those who have not paid. This irks me beyond belief. It seems the only real way to have any security in this country is to make sure you earn an income around the poverty line. Cause if you work you butt off and plan, sacrifice and WORK, you are penalized. However if you slack, do not educate yourself, show self control and discipline you are NOT penalized but given alot of breaks and entitlements. Then we wonder why we have to import highly educated people from other countries cause we do not produce well educated/motivated people. Cause they are penalized.

I am in such a mood! I think I am going to quit my job, not pay for anything I bought. Just file bankruptcy. Then I can live off the state, have my health insurance for myself and kids taken care of. Get a tax refund......Sleep in the mornings. Surrender and become a slacker and join the force of slackers so in a few years another country can come and take us over, I wont mind cause I am too busy not caring.

I really need some chocolate...... :(

There, there, Stink.  Don't be upset. :(

They already thought you might try that so they made it much harder to file bankruptcy.  Near impossible to get the forgiven one --- now it's just the planned pay back one pretty much if I have it right.   d*

I only see one option for you, Stink.  Take a one way trip to Mexico.[idea]

That's it.  Take your cocoa butter and a bikini, lay around on the beaches under the hot Mexican sun and get a deep dark tan, then sneak  back as an illegal alien.  All benefits will then be open to you.  :)

Probably even get your $600 like the rest of us.

NO, I will pay off my obligations.....THEN I will quit my job and live on the land, and get a tax refund. Nope I plan to live around the poverty line. If I have no bills, own my property and home outright I should not have a problem living at the poverty line. THEN I will get all the benies  :)

If it makes you feel better Stink, I won't be getting one. I took the year off to see if I was going west. (Appears   that I haven't yet). I have made money in the market and have to pay taxes on it. I do not qualify as a Trader though and the refund is not for unemployed people that pay taxes.

So we're supposed to get this check which is written on my kids' account and go do what?  Go to Wal-Mart and improve the economy of China?

I think I'll put mine in the bank to offset the social security I won't be getting.  Maybe I won't be as much a burden to my kids.

A Ruger Mini is about $600, right?

Oh Crap I give up. There is a blizzard outside and the traffic on the road is running faster than this box.  I tried to post a couple time and lost it somehow. Anyway I wonder if you will have to claim this as income next year if you pay income tax.  As for the ones that do not pay will have to claim and possibly put them over the $. Refuse it?  Well not much work on the cabin as I just got word that school is closed. So press the referee shirt and find my whistle as the kids are home tomarrow.

As far as the rebate/refund/gift/whatever you want to call it...
They want you to spend it. So do the opposite and save it.  :D

Or use it to buy a gun, or part of a gun.

Or ammo. $600 will get you (more or less)...
.223        case of 1000 rounds or about 2000 surplus
.308        case of 500 rounds or about 1000 - 1200 surplus
45-70      about 400 rounds, never seen any surplus
338 WM   about 200 rounds
12Ga Buckshot   about 500

Shoot the bull a bunch.   ;D

$100 could even help my economy. :)  I  quit working for trading dollars - the fun of it, and I quit working for questionable people.  Turned down a $5000 job the other day just because I don't think the guy has the money to pay me on time and I don't want to chase him for it.

I guess they'll have to find it first, Drew. [crz]

Your in your down fall to closing shop now. I started doing the same things then woke up one morning and said I hate doing electrical work after 34+ years. I closed the doors sold the place and moved to Eastern Washington! It all started by not working for certain people, then certain types of jobs, all the way down to I'm just sick of the public in general and do not want to work for them anymore! Mark

The best thing about the REFUND is that we're being told how to spend it!

Don't pay off a debt or save it...BUY something that you don't need so a company who's tax is gonna be cut can show a better profit...thus making the economy numbers look better...for the purpose of media hype!

The ONLY reason for this legislation is ease the tax on large corporations....REMEMBER THE RECORD PROFITS MADE LAST YEAR....Why should these companys pay a record tax too??????

The only time Bush is cheating us is every second of every day...and Pelosi is proving herself to be just a bobbing head with a store bought smile and NO backbone. First woman in the office...I was so proud of that accomplishment...looks like she'd wanna do just a little something !!!

NOTHING here will help the middle class or the economy. Without good jobs, tax can't be paid and merchandise can't be bought. Houses and cars can't be purchased for $300 dollars....IF the government was at all interested in our economy, we'd see a HIGHER tax going to those companys who'd rather employ citizens of other countries and we'd see tax breaks going to those who return employment this country.....

NOTHING HERE BUT HYPE TO COVER A TAX BREAK FOR MEGA-COROPORATIONS.

You have a good handle on it, Williet.

Mark, I will continue to work for the 4 or 5 good companies I sub for but no more break even jobs - even for them.  I agree with you -- general public are the pits and have to have a good recommendation or reputation before I work for them.  I will work for them if I feel good about dealing with them and that comes from shooting the bull with them.  I use their comments and attitudes to evaluate them.

I only have so many hours to sell.  If I whore myself for break even what will I live on?  I'd just be wearing my self out for someone else's benefit.  I'm tired of doing it for the fun of it.  I'll go prospecting first. :)

Yup, that's the good part.  And to make sure we don't to anything Unamerican like hog our money in a savings account or pay off money (debt) that has already been counted in last year's income statements, they are putting a cap on who can get the refund.

The MSM is still building policy from rumors, but one article said that over a certain point (I think it's $150K per household) the refund throttles back.  From a logical point of view, these are households that have put a lot into the system and are funding this "refund".  Well, there are more households with less than $150K AGI so it's a sound political move.  Yup...

$150K AGI sounds like a lot and it is.  Most households like this are on a 1/4 acre lot or less in town with a correspondingly high cost of living.  Kids, insurance, transportation, all of that.  Many have aging parents, legal fees, medical expenses and everything else that everyone has.  It's a life choice, and everyone is watching what will happen next.

Everyone pays their bills in dollars and depends on insurance to cover their medical expenses (if they're lucky).  Everyone depends on the health of the economy to some extent to take care of themselves when they get older (Even if you are off the grid, if you sell food or services, you still need buyers).  Everyone is in this together and handing out dance bids only to the pretty girls on the Titanic is moronic and divisive.

If they would have addressed the gasoline and heating oil problem then people would have the extra money to spend on products that would have boosted the economy thus eliminating the need for their actions in the first place. But why do that it would be money out of their pockets that way.

I also evaluate the friends I work for and work with the ones that will be fair as well as give them a break.

I turn down contracts for friends that may be unreasonable if I see that they have possibly had altercations with others in the past and want to keep them as a friend.

I worked for one that I had not worked for before, and his expectations were unreasonable at the end of the job.  I took my losses and kept him as a friend but will not work for him any more.  I took the job for him at a reduced rate at the start based on his word of what he got quotes from others for.  Usually these lowball quotes by out of work contractors or individuals from the trades doing side jobs are usually followed by lots of additions and change orders, but I don't work that way.  I still completed the contract at the agreed upon price.  Just won't do it for him again.  He backcharged me for storage fees due to weather.

Our country is run by oil company, war machine and big business representatives.

For us to improperly spend the rebate (they will take from our kids credit- they already blew our contribution) or get it under the wrong terms would be anti-fascist.  Can't have that. [crz]
