I'm getting a headache looking at Sawmills.
Norwoods, Woodmizers, Ripsaws, chainsaw mills..........................
Trying to get the most bang for the buck and not spend extra money on something that I don't need is tough.
I know Glenn has a Norwood. Anyone else have one? :o
I think desdawg has a Norwood, and I thought Glenn had a Woodmizer. ??? could be wrong... d*
Dang, sometimes I am good. :)

scroll down a wee bit for a look at it
Thanks Don. The Norwood is the same model I'm looking at. The woodwizard is a little pricey but I'm going to look at one at the Farm Show next week.
Hard to get a good look at Glenns but it looks a little heavier.
Yeah Peter, I got the Norwood for the reason you stated, the most bang for the buck. I got it all assembled, built on an old truck frame and hauled it to the mountains. Then life got busy and I didn't have time to get back up there and really use it. So other than one test log here I haven't had fun with it yet. I went with the Lumber Lite because of the small size trees I have. I added some track so I could handle 20' logs. It is shipped disassembled on pallets but the instructions are good and it goes pretty easy. So far I am happy.
I really like the Norwood Reps. I hope they are at the Farm show next week...It's going to be another busy week. Gun owners lobby day at the General Assembly on Monday and Monday afternoon, I have to make fun of the Million Mom Marchers who are going to have another of their demonstrations. (They usually cut it short when I video tape them from under a foot away:-\).
Farm show on Tuesday and yes I do have to work this week too.
I need to finish cutting the frame on my last bent for the house on Wednesday. Meet the accountants on Thursday and leave for the farm on Friday. What happened to semi retirement? ???
I love the Woodmizer but I can get the Norwood that appears to be nearly as well made for a couple thousand less.
Give the MMM my best, Peter. ;D
I like the Wood Wizard - it is a light saw but does a good job. I have an extension and can cut 20'6". One thing I like about it is that you push the carriage through by hand. The bands are pretty light and it is easy to break them if dull and you are not careful. It's easy to break them if you are careful.
Lots of water for lubricant helps.
