I was just wondering if anyone had any information on where to look for loggers to log a property.
I read that a property can be looged every 10 years or so. It actually helps the wildlife and manages the resources of your land. Gives the younger trees a chance to grow and mature quicker.
We are looking to use the money from the logging to help us pay for a well and septic on our property.
We are located in the Southern Tier of Western New York. Anyone with any advice or info or recommendations?
Thanks!!
First, do use a forester to make a logging plan and get a contract.
Go to your county forester to get references for loggers and foresters in your area. Pick them carefully and trust no one. There is unfortunately a high number of unscrupulous loggers out there.

You usually get two thinning s 10 years apart and then clear cut.
Make sure you want to do this first. Loggers make a mess and compact the ground and yes use a forester but interview a couple before deciding on one.
You may want to look into using a logger that uses a horse team. It's a much better way.
ASK YOUR FORESTER EXACTLY WHAT HE WILL DO AND What it costs. THERE ARE A LOT OF LAZY FORESTERS OUT THERE.
Here is a place to start your search
