Title: Flue pipe surround
Post by: peter_nap on October 08, 2007, 06:14:47 PM
I've always put in masonry fireplaces and chimneys. I was very good at building them. I'd call the bricklayer and tell him to march his little hiney  over and build it. Well....ain't a bricklayer on this job and I sure can't do it so it's time to start thinking about double wall flue pipe.

I've always turned my nose up at those framed flue surrounds but looks like I either run it straight through the roof or build one.

What does the framing look like inside one of those yuppie chimneys?

Never mind, I found it. It's a chase not a surround.

Hmmmm - don't ask me -- I packed mine in with mud and rocks.  I wonder what section of code covers that. :-?

Maybe grandfathered in --- or even great grandfathered. :-/

They haven't published the UTC yet. (Uniform Troglodyte Code)

That's because the troglodytes have a very strong union and they have continued to reject it's publication. :o :)
