Awhile ago, I saw a terrific series of images somewhere of well made corbels, or under the eave brackets. I just can't find them or remember where I saw them.

I have extended my eaves to 18", and would like to brace them with brackets/corbels on the gable ends. I'll need 13 of them, and need to start soon, or won't have them ready by the time the framing stage needs to put them in place. I'm sure it will take me quite awhile.

Is there anyone here who remembers that thread? or could point me towards a how-to site on building them? I want them to be structurally sound, and supportive, not just decorative.

If those had been true structural corbels I would have let in the cross member into the king posts.

But it sound like your doing the same thing with yours more decrative than structural.

Glad someone else knew where it was... I've been going back through all the threads trying to find it for you with no luck, even though I know exactly which one you're talking about!

Thanks so much. I had used the search option to no avail. I had also been looking back through the posts for that very link.

PEG's done some great tutorials (such as this one :D)

Part of the problem finding things is there are so many names or ways of describing these things (or terms to search on):
• corbel
• support bracket
• angle roof support bracket
• eave roof extension
• outlook bracket
• gable end support
• corner bracket
