Title: Limonene (citrus solvent) - delaminate ply?
Post by: MarkAndDebbie on August 27, 2007, 09:06:49 AM
I was going to do my loft floor (and ceiling) in tung oil. To thin it I am going to use the limonene (citrus solvent) - fairly earth friendly - not as toxic as some thinners.

I am doing plybead (that plywood that sort of looks like beadboard) for at least my ceiling. I thought about doing the plybead in tung oil like floors. But I read that the citrus solvent is good at dissolving adhesives.

I wonder if the limonene will delaminate my plywood/plybead since it is supposed to 'soak' into it? If I get a small sample of the solvent and plybead and try it, what would problems should I look for?

Would mineral spirits have the same problem?

Thanks!
