Title: Rubber walls on a basement
Post by: Spyke on August 13, 2007, 08:55:56 PM
The foundation guys out here get around a grand to spray the outside of the basement walls with that black rubber stuff before backfilling. Anyone know what exactly the rubber stuff is called and what type of sprayer is needed? Can it be brushed or rolled on?

Just looking to save a few bucks.............. ideas

There is stuff that can be brushed, rolled or sprayed but it comes in different grades.

I don't know the name of it right now but we have it on the jobsite already.  I won't get there right away though.

A concrete supply house could tell you.

The most common products are asphalt based. The material below adds some polymers. The more polymers the more like rubber.

Check locally as to what is used for your soils and ground water conditions.

I only have a crawlspace (roughly at grade) so I wasn't too concerned with water, but I used DryLock. It says it will stop hydrostatic pressure. You (must) brush it on for a 10 year warranty. I would think the asphalt products would be better.

If I remember right Drylock crystalizes and blocks water.  It claims to be very good - don't know what it would do with a seam or crack.
