You might want to try google. I found a site that lists several programs. If you read the reviews there are pros and cons for each one. I have looked and decided not to buy a program. One I considered was one sold through Better Homes and Gardens. It has 3d modeling and templates to choose. I have decided to buy the Little house plans kit and combine the 14x24 and the 10x14. Also, graph paper works well. You can mark  your home on a grid and get a rough picture. Another thing to do is visit homes and measure rooms if the people don't mind. I did this where I work and know what I want.

There are programs under 100. The expensive stuff is meant for designers and contractors who have 700+  to spend on software.

Back to searching for programs and sites, I haven't looked for freeware. There may be some out there that  assists in design.

Here's a page http://architecture.about.com/cs/cadprograms/tp/designsoftware.htm for design programs.

Evaluate on your own.
