This is it! Yes dear husband this is the plan that is perfect for us......Until a floor plan that is more perfect for us comes along. This seems to happen frequently according to the husband. Anyone else not monogamous to a single floor plan?

Whatever you decide will evolve and change. This is as it should be and should not let the agonizing choices overwhelm taking action.
Plans are always fluid and the paper plans (mine at least) are meant to be adjusted. They are only a picture or notes and directions about future possible action. Two people buiding the same house with the same plans will hopefully build two different houses that each take better advantage of the site and are better suited to the owners needs than could ever have been anticipated by the stock plan designer.
Old Zen saying.... ACT, IMPROVE, REPEAT.
I've been through a lot of designs.
My guess is that any of them would have been OK.
But the changes have been for the simpler, the smaller, the more efficient.
Think about how people will use the space to--cook, be private, be social, clean up, put away groceries, books, survive a long cold [hot or dry] spell, etc. That might get some of the plans out of the way.
How your house is going to work with the site (all of those 7 houses mentioned below did that pretty well.).
My family once lived in the next to the last of a line of about 7 identical houses. If we went into one of the others, we'd know where the bathroom was, could make a damned good guess as to the silverware drawer, but after those kind of minor things, all the houses looked very very different.
Neither can my wife!
she is all for replacing out camper setup with a little cabin. She has no imagination of how big anything should be. She has been measuring and driving stakes under my boat sheds. One shed is 14 x 24 and she just can't come up a layout she likes, so: she has taken over one half of a 32 x 32 and thinks she can see how 16 x 32 might work for her.
When she is done driving stakes, scratching lines in the ground and painting lines I will show her the 16 x 28 with loft layout I have. ;)
I purchased the plans for John's Builder's Cottage. I've looked and looked and looked - and I keep coming back to it. It's such a simple plan and includes everything I need, and it's perfect for adding onto if and when the need arises.
This is a great little plan, Gypsy. It is similar to John's little house plan I modified for my garage so I have a feeling for the size and shape. It could make a great little house.
