Title: Problem searching
Post by: n74tg on September 01, 2006, 05:58:44 AM
I want to find all posts by a given individual, regardless of subject, title, etc.  I've extended the search period to one year and searched "all forums", but still get a "missing search string" message.

I've also read the post and replies on searches in Forum News.

Any way to do this?

thanks

I'm not doing much better, Tony -- maybe John can help.

I tried using the search feature just using the user name and it doesn't seem to work properly....

But here's a partial work around. Find a post by the person whose postings you want to see. Click their username (upper left) and their profile will come up. At the bottom is a link that will show the last (number) of posts this person has made. That can be set up to 25. I tried to find a way to make this larger but couldn't find a setting in the control panel to adjust the limit.

I sometimes use Google for that kind of thing. Enter the search string as...

"n74tg" site:www.countryplans.com

Or go to the Advanced Search page and put www.countryplans.com in the Domain box.

I fixed the problem and was able to pull up 1957 of Amanda's 2000 some posts.  I increased the search option on the profile box to 5000 posts but that seems to overwhelm the server a bit -- Anything under 2000 ought to work fine.

Do as John stated above - click on the user name - go to their profile- at the bottom the box is now increased to 5000.

Sorry I didn't have time to check it out better earlier --- working out of town.
