Title: Anyone have pictures of a U stair in a 20x30 1 1/2 cabin?
Post by: Rys on January 03, 2017, 07:35:36 AM
I'm having a heck of a time coming up with a layout for my stairs. ???  We're wanting to have our stairs go both up to the loft and down to a full basement. Does anyone have this setup?
Thanks!

Just roughly you'll need an area 6' wide x 8' deep.

I am about to build a U staircase in my 20x34 2 story universal.. no pics yet, but I do have detailed sketchup drawings. The stairway takes up a lot of space, even in the 2 story. I think there is plenty of room for it, but in a 20x30 1.5 story, it would be tight. the landing on the second floor probably would be little more than a catwalk.

A full sized "U" stair is drawn into the Universal 2-story plan. It is tight using that stair in the 1-1/2 story. Space will have to be found if you don't want to do the steep stair shown in that plan. Another option that may work is the Jefferson stair.

Thanks for the replies. I planned on extending the length to 40'.
Saw another post about changing the width to 24. Might look into that as well.

Going wider (24') will make the standard "U stair" work.
