Title: How do I change only 1 piece of GAF fiber cement siding?
Post by: jesse977 on May 23, 2016, 03:23:36 AM
I need to change out a few pieces of GAF fiber cement siding. They are somewhat brittle. Whats the best way to change a few random pieces? I don't want to remove a whole section just to change out a few broken pieces in random spots.

I am not that familiar with that particular siding but if it is like most other lap type the fastner (nails) are hidden under the course directly above.  You will probably have to cut the damage sheet  to enable you to get a slim long blade of a "sawzall" under that edge and cut the nails securing it.  Once cut it should just fallout from under the sheet above.  Then you may be able to slip the replacement piece under the lip and attach.  Problem with that is that your fastners will not be hidden on that replacement sheet like the others.  Just a thought.  Maybe others have a better mouse trap. ;D
