Title: BFE pier suggestions
Post by: pujah3 on October 13, 2015, 04:26:51 PM
New here.  Building a small house that has to comply with FEMA and BFE's.  Will most likely be going up around 15 ft.  House is long and narrow.  I have researched and read about different types of piers until I'm blue in the face.  Any suggestions or opinions on steel driven, helical, concrete or any other that might be better than the other?  There's the typical soil erosion, etc FEMA standards I will be addressing due to being in an AE flood zone.  I thank you in advance for any advise.

Sounds like you will likely be needing a local engineered solution to that one. You can check with the inspector who may have a referral or suggestion if there is a system that has already been engineered. Also good to check with foundation subs.
